Pavement Improvements in Fitzrovia

There are lots of developments taking place in Fitzrovia and were possible the Council encourages or requires developers to upgrade the pavements and public realm around their buildings. Examples include Pearson Square (Formerly Fitzroy Place) and the Middlesex hospital.

However many of the pavements have not been upgraded for years and, given the new vibrancy of the area do not reflect the quality we would expect for central London.

I identified a number of streets and recommended to the Cabinet Member for the Built Environment and his team that they should be upgraded and mam delighted that work has commenced in Mortimer Street and Great Titchfield Street to upgrade the pavements from tarmac to paving stones.

These upgrades together with those triggered by developments and Crossrail etc… will see a significant improvement of the quality of the public realm in Fitzrovia
