The Metropolitan  Police are carrying out Reassurance Patrols in Westminster today – see the post from Safer West End Business Partnership below:

On Friday 3rd June the Metropolitan Police Service PSO (Protective Security Operations) are deploying a large number of reassurance serials to Westminster Borough who will deploy alongside local Counter Terrorism Focus Desk officers and a Counter Reconnaissance Team. In short this will see deployment of around 100 visible uniform officers patrolling on foot.

This is part of strategy aimed at focusing deployments in a highly visible manner and disrupting potential hostile reconnaissance and attack planning. There is no intelligence to suggest there will an elevated threat on the 3rd June.

The entire deployment will extend from 1000hrs to 2130hrs. 6 patrol areas area being mapped out; namely Buckingham Palace Guard Change; Whitehall and Trafalgar Square; Strand and Villiers street area; Covent Garden;  Soho; China Town area; Regent Street and Piccadilly area. These patrol areas are vastly smaller than the areas to which such serials are usually posted, so it will be very clear that there is a large policing presence.
