Help reduce plastic bottle consumption by joining The Refill campaign

After working to have free water fountains installed across the West End and launching a campaign to ban single use plastics, I am urging local businesses to sign up to The Refill campaign.

The Refill campaign aims to reduce single use plastic bottle pollution and promote healthy lifestyles in towns and cities across the UK by improving access to free drinking water on the go.

Becoming a Refill station has a number of benefits and you can add your business to the free App by visiting https://www.refill.org.uk/get-the-refill-app/

As a result of my work with officers, colleagues and local stakeholders members of the public can already fill up reusable bottles for free at drinking fountains in Ham Yard and Rathbone Square, but I hope that further fountains will be added in cafes,  shops and public buildings across the West End and Westminster as a whole.

Pressing Parliament To Regulate The Pedicab Industry

I am working with Conservatives on Westminster City Council to press Parliament to regulate the pedicab industry.

Unlicensed pedicabs constantly cause disruption for local businesses and residents, but because of current laws, we are only able to take a limited amount of action. We need a change in the law.

Outside of London pedicabs are classed in the same way as taxis, which means they are regulated.

There is currently a bill going through Parliament to regulate the industry, but because of timetabling issues, we fear it may not be agreed in time.

We need to put pressure on Parliament to pass this bill quickly and we need the help of local businesses and residents.
